DESCRIPTION
For this assignment, I further honed my branding and marketing skills and my digital and physical craft of packaging. I was tasked with creating a design and brand for a hypothetical beverage company. After doing so, I would need to create an example of visual coding for a minimum of three different products, a secondary package, and a limited edition collection.
STEP ONE: MOODBOARD
The first step in this assignment was to create a moodboard of images that would present the overall vibe I am going for with my design. The type of beverage I chose to on was an alcoholic one as I had never created a project like this before. I really wanted to focus on fun and bright colors that would convey the fruity drinks I was looking to create.
STEP TWO: LOGO SKETCHES
Like most projects, after creating an overall mood for the project I was looking to design, I started sketching what my logo would look like. The thin font and line work is something I am very used to creating in my designs. I chose the name After Thought, after a lot of different choices and thinking about it for a while. I thought with it being an alcoholic beverage that the name would be almost ironic.
STEP THREE: FIRST DIGITAL LOGO DESIGNS
After putting my ideas down on paper with my sketches of the logo, it was time to put it on the computer and digitalize it. This step still took a lot of time with different variations of the logo that I was trying to create. I played a lot with different styles of typography as well as placement of the text and image.
STEP FOUR: FINAL LOGO
After playing around with different logo iterations I finally landed on one that I liked.
STEP FIVE: BEVERAGE SKETCHES
Once the logo was complete, I then moved onto creating sketches for the design of the beverage cans as well as for the special edition beverage that I based on another project I did called Sunset Sights.
STEP SIX: DIGITALIZING BEVERAGE DESIGNS
Moving on from sketches, I took the ideas I had put onto paper and using Adobe Illustrator, created the first round of designs.
STEP SEVEN: EDITS, EDITS, EDITS
This project went through many different rounds of edits and ideas. I play around a lot with different colors as well as different ways to lay out my designs.
STEP EIGHT: FINAL BEVERAGE DESIGN
Finally after multiple iterations and playing around with the design, I came up with a design that I really liked and stuck with it.
STEP NINE: SECONDARY PACKAGING SKETCHES
After creating the final design for the cans, the next step was to create my secondary packaging for both the special edition and regular beverages.
STEP TEN: SECONDARY PACKING DIGITAL
Once the sketches were created, I took those ideas and put them into Adobe Illustrator again to bring the package to life.
