DESCRIPTION
For this project, I was responsible for designing a creative yet cohesive packaging system for a fictitious brand of products of my choosing. I had to design and construct my own custom, handcrafted packaging that included a complex package (box), a simple package (bag or pouch), and a simple flat accessory(tag, band, or label).
STEP ONE: MOODBOARD
The first step in this assignment was putting together a file that conveyed the overall vibe I was going for with my design. The concept I created for the fictitious brand is a customizable sock company called “Sukani Socks”. Theoretically, a person would use Sukani Sock’s website to customize their own sock patterns as well as the type of socks they would like to order. This is where the tagline, “customize your comfort” comes from. I chose to create a sock company because I figured it would be a fun and interesting product to create packaging around.
STEP TWO: SKETCHES
The next step in this assignment was sketching out the designs I want to make. For the complex package, I wanted to create a fun and unique shape to play off the also unique brand idea which is why I chose the shape of a triangle. I would then bring in the triangle elements onto the simple package as well as the label by making a pattern along the sides.
STEP THREE: DIGITALIZE
After creating some sketches and putting my ideas down on paper, I then had to start creating the designs digitally.
STEP FOUR: MOCKUPS
After creating the digital versions of my designs, I had to put them into mockups. This is so my designs can be seen more clearly.
